Ripon City Band

Marching Band

Ripon City Band was established in 1860 and have traditionally led the procession, a role that they are continuing this year. Expect a mix of contemporary and traditional music.

ST WILFRID & MONKS

HORSE & MONKS

The procession is traditionally led by St Wilfrid on horseback, followed by his monks, a custom that dates back to 1108 when King Henry I granted a charter to the City of Ripon permitting it to hold a fayre.

Ripon Cathedral

Clergy & Lay Persons

Members of the Cathedral clergy and lay staff will join this year’s procession as a walking ensemble. Their presence highlights the close connection between the Cathedral and the city’s historic celebration of St Wilfrid.

Official Cars

Mayor & President

This section of the procession features cars carrying the Mayor and their official consort, along with the Procession president, John Richmond.

Ripon City Morris Dancers

Traditional Folk Dancing

Ripon City Morris Dancers were formed in 1982 and perform the North-West of England Morris style, which is an urban, processional dance. Its origins are still visible today, particularly in the use of clogs and cotton slings.

James Tulloch-Knight

Only Fools & Horses

This entry brings to life the iconic three-wheeled van from the much-loved long-running BBC comedy series and stage musical, recreated as a creative handmade cardboard costume.

Dementia Forward

Dementia Forward’s Boogie Bus

Formed in 2012, Dementia Forward is your local charity that now supports over 10,000 people with dementia and their families across North Yorkshire and York.

Supported by a highly skilled, committed, and motivated team to help people feel supported, informed and
included so that they continue to live well with dementia in their community.

Our Dementia Forward Boogie Bus will be decorated with a dancing through the decades theme, our staff and volunteers will be in fancy dress and dancing to the music alongside the vehicle. We will be celebrating iconic music and fashion from the 1950s onwards.

The Imagination Centre celebrates creativity and imagination through its Keepsakes classes, messy play sessions and children's birthday parties. Dedicated to helping every child express their individuality, this colourful entry showcases the joy of creativity and bringing imaginations to life.

Hightimers

Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

The Hightimers, a local amateur theatre company, return to the procession with a colourful celebration of their recent production of Joseph And His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Featuring favourite characters, vibrant costumes and well-loved songs from the hit musical, their entry promises plenty of energy, music and theatrical fun

Water Is Life!

The Rotary Club of Ripon Rowels are proud to support the vital work carried out by WaterAid and Aquabox. These charities provide essential water services, for drinking and sanitation, to communities in need all around the World!

RAOS Musical Theatre Company

Little Shop of Horrors

RAOS Musical Theatre Company brings the infamous Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors to this year's procession. Keep an eye out for the monstrous plant before catching the full production at the Ripon Arts Hub from 28–31 October 2026.

Ripon Swimming Club

Ripon De Janeiro

Get ready for a splash of Carnival fun as RCSC brings the vibrant spirit of Rio to the streets of Ripon.  We’re turning up the volume with a float full of colour, fun and infectious
energy…. Come and join the party!

Ripon City Swimming Club provides affordable swimming lessons for the children of Ripon since 1936. The club is run by an amazing team of volunteers, helpers and teachers. Lessons run term time every Tuesday evening at Ripon Grammar School.

Viva Las Vegas

This is Klasswerk’s fourth year of entering a float but for some members of the team, this is their eleventh float within the St Wilfrid’s procession - doing their bit to keep this fabulous local tradition alive and kicking.

Team Klasswerks is Vegas bound! They’re bringing the bright lights of Vegas to our
wonderful city of Ripon. Viva Las Vegas!

Durkan Shenanigans

This family entry celebrates Irish heritage, with four generations of one Ripon family coming together to take part in the St Wilfrid’s Procession for the very first time.

Tesco Superheroes

Tesco proudly serves the Ripon community every day, helping shoppers with everything they need while supporting local events and good causes. Their procession entry celebrates the dedicated colleagues who go above and beyond proving that not all heroes wear capes!

Car Wash

A familiar sight in the St Wilfrid's Procession for many years, Ripon Farm Services returns with a fun car wash-themed entry for 2026.

Their colourful float combines community spirit with plenty of imagination and entertainment.

Oliver And Lewis

The Bee Gees

Inspired by the legendary Bee Gees, this fun-filled entry brings the spirit of disco to the streets of Ripon. Created by two local residents, the float promises dazzling costumes, classic hits and plenty of Saturday Night Fever energy for spectators to enjoy.

Kevin Proctor

The Bear

This impressive 1985 Kenworth Truck, imported all the way from the USA, takes centre stage with its striking Alaska themed paintwork. Adorned with majestic bears and rugged wilderness scenes, it captures the spirit of the great outdoors. A true showstopper, this truck brings a bold, adventurous vibe to the procession.
